Sir Ian McGeechan is a director of RCD and one of the main instigators of our global strategy. Like many other leading figures in our game he is passionate about engaging all who come into touch with rugby and wants their experience to be a special one. His vision is to encourage sharing and to this end has kindly provided hundreds of his own ides as well as asking others to do the same.
RFU pilots new online Coaching Academy with RCD
On
9th August 2011 Rugby Football Union (RFU) together with the RCD, announced the
start of trials of a new internet based coaching academy (based on the RCD
technology) which aims to deliver the best of rugby coaching information to
coaches at all levels of the game throughout England as a complementary and
integral part of the RFU’s coach development programmes.
“Our objective is to improve the expertise of our coaches at all levels
nationally by complementing our face to face programmes with value added
content and advice via the internet", said Gary Henderson, Head of Player
and Coach Development at the RFU.
We
are starting with a pilot scheme before moving onto regional trials planning to
launch the academy nationally next January. You can read the full RFU press
